Document for the Version 2 L1B data from Atmospheric Carbon dioxide Grating Spectrometer (ACGS) on TanSat

2018-02-09

The TanSat Team is pleased to announce the availability of ACGS Version 2 Level 1B data. Many improvements are listed below:

 1. Bias correction of spectral calibration

The biases in three bands are corrected based on the analysis result of solar Fraunhofer lines observed by TanSat solar calibration.

2. The new background coefficients are applied to the calculation of background signals from October 27, 2017.

3. The datasets of land cover are added to the new version.

4. Updates of water-land indicator

The values in the new version range from 0-100 with units of percentage.

5. Updates of polarization angles

The polarization angle is updated to the included angle between the accepted polarization axis of the instrument and the instrument reference plane for polarization, defined as the plane formed by the LOS and the ray from the sounding location to the local zenith

6. Changes of radiance units

The ACGS radiance units are changed from W/m2/sr/nm to Ph/S/m2/sr/um in order to adapt the solar input irradiance units. It should be noted that the signal to noise coefficients is suited for the old units W/m2/sr/nm because these coefficients is derived from the lab noise testing which used the old units.

7. The radiance in version 2 is calibrated to the half of the raw radiance in version 1.

8. The file names are updated to include the version number, the whole satellite name and instruments name.

FY-2G Substitutes FY-2E Operation at 105E

2015-05-29

As it's planned, FY-2G will substitute FY-2E's operation at 105E from 08:00(BTC) June 3, 2015. FY-2G transmits 28 full-disc images of each hour time and the 4 half-hour time, i.e., 01:30, 7.30, 13.30, and 19:30 (BTC) for AMVs. In rainy season, extra 20 northern-hemisphere images will be transmitted at each half hour, in addition to the above 28 full-discs.

FY-2s Activate Intensified Observation for Rainy Season

2015-05-29

On user requirement for observational service in rainy season, the DB readout service of Fengyun geostationary satellite is intensified and the change involves the FY-2 satellites at 105E and 86.5E – each satellite to increase transmission for extra 20 images of the northern hemisphere on the basic 28 full-discs of the earth everyday. From 00:00(UTC) May 29, 2015, the FY-2 satetllite at 105E performs full-disc observation at each hour time, and the north half-disc observation at each half-hour time (except the observations for wind derivation); the FY-2 satellite at 86.5E takes the full-disc image at each 15-minute past the hour, and takes the northern half-disc image at each 15-minute to the hour (except the observations for wind derivation).

A Notification on FY-2F’s Intensified Observation

FY-3C/GNOS Refractivity Products Update Announcement

2015-04-28

The refractivity products of FY-3C/GNOS were updated on Apr. 13, 2015. The updated products include two aspects.

1. Quality identifiers are tagged to refractivity profiles. The tag labelled as 100 shows that the profile is good. Please be careful when using these profiles labelled as 50 or 60.

2. The system errors in the rising and setting occultations are much removed.
