1. FY-2 data archiving format CSV CSV is a format developed by the National Satellite
Meteorological Center to archive S-VISSR data. Built on S-VISSR data, CSV data,
when quality controlled, can generate CSV data files and CSV quality files. A CSV
data file contains both extracted S-VISSR metadata and quality controlled S-VISSR
data. The data would be stored in a compressed manner. A CSV quality file contains
the quality information on quality control generation.
1.1 Compressed S-VISSR (CSV) data files
1) Composition In a CSV file, each record is defined with a length up to 330,080
bits, or 41,260 bytes. A global imagery may have 2,501 records. The first record
contains metadata (Table 4.20), with others having compressed S-VISSR data.
In addition to the two-byte record number and the 1-byte quality code, each S-VISSR
data record has a file segment (DOC), 4 infrared imagery data segments (IR1-IR4)
and 4 visible imagery data segments (VIS1-VIS4). The composition of CSV files is
given in Table 4.19.
